Who’s the Greatest?
A short nativity play telling the Christmas story from the point of view of The Wise Men and Herod. It is based on Matthew 2:1-8 & Isaiah 9:2-7
Saving Christmas – A Family Nativity Service
Telling the Christmas story from Joseph’s point of view (Matthew 1:18-25), this is a leader-led service with audience interactions, a few volunteers and some readers who’ve ideally been primed.
Two different scripts by BBC Comedy Writer, James Cary – both based on the Nativity according to the Gospel of Matthew.
The first, Who’s the Greatest?, is for a more standard nativity play written to be incorporated into a church service (rather than a standalone play performed in a school). There are speaking parts and readings that will need a little bit of rehearsal, although it was written in the knowledge that rehearsal time is often very limited.
The second, Saving Christmas, is a nativity service that tells the Christmas story from Joseph’s point of view – and refers to Isaiah. This is more of an interactive presentation that involves volunteers (some of whom could be primed).
The script is provided as PDF and there is a link to a Word document so that you can change it, rewrite it, adapt it and generally pull it around in any way you like. You can add lines, scenes and jokes. You could even combine both scripts. You do not need permission to do this. Just do it!
Download them for free, if you like. Then if you use one of them, come back and make a contribution.
